Salted With Fire

Mark 9:49 (KJV) ......Every one shall be salted with fire. ........What does this mean? Does it include Christians? Is it literal?

Christians sometimes are willing to believe other people will be punished by God in literal eternal fire. But when they read a verse like this that seems to indicate ALL people will be put in the fire I hear no comment. Why?

Please give me your interpretaion of this verse.

Questions: What is HELL? What happens there? Who made Hell? Are people tormented there? Is Hell a Lake of Fire? If the way is narrow then that means at least 51 percent of people go to Hell, is that right? A simple majority? Does that amount to Billions? Yes? Lets pretend the world has 2 billion people on it (I know there are more, but just for the sake of argument)...51 percent of 2 billion is over a billion. Right? So at least 1 billion will be in Hell for eternity if your theology is correct. Is that true? As you said: a countles throng. Do you consider torment in flame to be torture? Do you believe God tortures people? I was taught the answer is yes. I don't believe it. But that is what I was taught. Maybe you don't believe what my childhood church taught me. Please tell me what you believe. I hope Rob Bell helps spark a new Reformation. It could happen. Martin Luther bucked the system. I hope the church is tweeked again towards a more sane view of God. I dare you to think about this. I dare you to discuss this with me. Change your stance if you are wrong. It is OK. Don't be afraid. Yes, you might lose your job, but God will honor you. I love, love, love, love YOU very much. It is time to throw away the medieval pagan doctrine of HELL. Please, prove me wrong if you can. PLEASE! Or just ignore me if you want. The Lord will destroy all the wicked. All Have sinned. All will be made alive in Christ.

The Lord will destroy ALL of the wicked. The Lord hates all who do iniquity. The Lord rewards those who diligently seek Him. No one seeks the Lord. No one is righteous; no not one. Our righteousness is like filthy rags to the Lord. All liars will have their part in the Lake of fire. All people will be salted with fire. All men are liars. Our God is a consuming fire. God disciplines those He loves. All creation will be reconciled to the Lord. God will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the barn, but He will burn up our chaff with unquenchable fire. Blessed are people when the Lord causes them to seek Him. The way to life is narrow. Few find it. People learn righteousness when God’s judgments are in the land, because the LORD is gracious and compassionate; slow to anger and rich in love. The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. All your works praise you, LORD. God’s faithful people extol Him. They tell of the glory of His kingdom and speak of His might. But why? So that ALL people may know of God’s mighty acts and the glorious splendor of His kingdom. Praise the Lord he hears the prayers of those in the grave. He hears their cry and saves them. The LORD watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy. And such were some of you. My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD. Let every creature praise his holy name unto the ages of the ages. All died in Adam and all will be made alive in Christ. Jesus is the Lamb of God, savior of the world. He takes away the sin of the world. One man's sin brought guilt to all people. So also one right act made all people right with God. And all who are right with God will live. God will make all things new. Death will be abolished. The cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death. Our God is a consuming fire. All will be salted with fire. God disciplines those He loves. The nations, the pagan gentiles will walk by the light of the New Jerusalem. The kings of the earth will bring their splendor into the New Jerusalem. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations (the pagan peoples, the gentiles) will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. All will be salted with fire. God will purge His threshing floor. People will be saved as through fire. God is the savior of all men. God is not willing that any should continue perishing.

Christianity is A Changin'

Christianity has changed over the centuries and for this I am thankful.  We no longer kill each other for using a different mode of baptism. We no longer own slaves since the Civil War. The Southern Baptists have officially said sorry for their position on slavery in 1995. We let women speak in church. Women get to vote. Many believe hell is not literal fire but separation.  For all these things I am truly thankful. Some Christians still believe that the only Bible that is the TRUE Bible is the KJV.  And some hard core fundamentalists still believe in a literal burning, eternal HELL where most of humanity will be CAST against their will as punishment.  Of course CS Lewis thinks hell is figurative not literal and it is locked from the inside. And this is good.  I am looking forward to the day when the all of the 34,000 Christian sects will be united in love and we will all believe just as in Adam all died so also in Christ all shall be made alive.

All does not always mean all.

"When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him." (Matt. 2:3) Every single person in Jerusalem was troubled? No, of course not. You are correct. It is obvious. 

But if it was worded like this it would be different. Even as, in ADAM, all are dying, in the same way all in Jerusalem were troubled. In this case it would mean every single person because of the qualifier (as in Adam)."Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins." (Matt. 3:5-6) So, we are to understand that every single person of Judea and every single person in every region of Jordan went and got baptized by John? No, of course not. You are correct. It is obvious. It would have been mathematically impossible for one man to do it. You are absolutely right. But if it was worded like this it would be different. Even as, in ADAM, all are dying, in the same way, all in Judea and all in Jerusalem and all in the region round about Jordon were baptized by John. In this case it would mean every single person because of the qualifier (as in Adam). 
"Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; (Matt. 4:8) So, from the top of that mountain Jesus saw every single kingdom on the whole globe." No, of course not. You are correct. It is obvious. A human eyeball could not be shown even one Kingdom (unless it was close by) let alone ALL the Kingdoms on the GLOBE. Jesus must have been shown ALL the Kingdoms some other way (imagination, vision, trance, verbally). But if it was worded like this it would be different. Even as, in ADAM, all are dying, in the same way, Jesus saw ALL the Kingdoms….. In this case it would mean every single person because of the qualifier (as in Adam).

ever and ever" or "to the ages of the ages" - aion to aion = one of the meanings of aion is "age" but one of the other possible meanings of aion is "for ever, an unbroken age, perpetuity of time, eternity." There are two "ages" discussed in the Bible, one age that would pass, and one age that would never pass. The deceiver is said to be cast into the lake which was to be done at the end of the ending age, and would remain there throughout the next age, which is a never ending age, so that does kind of give us a time frame for how long the age is. Plus, it is doubled - ages of the age - giving a true sense of a never ending time frame."
